think that social media is the cause.

Ben, in my humble opinion as a neophyte photographer ..... your posts are quantum light years beyond the run-of-the-mill selfies we all too frequently see. Seriously, very subtle and creative. Sort of reminiscent of of Hitchcock quietly inserting himself in his own films. Very cool.
